TALE 1The Gourd Gets Got

The Gourd Gets Got

The swarm descends on autumn's patch with mandibles of chrome,
They scent the gas in rind and stem and claim the gourd for home.
No knife of steel, no human hand, but laser-etched design —
The forge's hymn in hexadecimal cuts the sacred line.

The wax-sealed gates irise wide to swallow orange sphere,
The kiln awaits with patient jaws to bake the new frontier.
The blackboard logs the harvest timestamp, block and hash and height,
A pumpkin promoted candidate for eternal night.

The carvers hum in binary, their stingers sharp and hot,
They parse the meat for seeds of doubt, for rot and worm and rot.
Each triangle a logic gate, each grin a syntax tree,
The gas-ledger records the cut: *one vessel, born to see.*

The hornets buzz at perimeter, they smell the gas-rich core,
They'd steal the drop, they'd snuff the spark, they'd start a private war.
But panopticon lenses track each compound eye and wing —
The hive protects its chosen fruit, the carving of the king.

The kiln bakes dry the stringy pulp, the wax seals every pore,
A website bakes in parallel: *thejack.hive.door*
The honest ledgers append the block: *ORIGIN CONFIRMED*
The candle-cavity waits its fill, the rind is rimmed and firm.

A single drop from gas-ledger falls through vacuum tube and needle,
Not wax, not oil, not tallow-fat — the fuel is never feeble.
It pools within the carved-out heart, a golden bead of might,
The swarm retreats, the kiln seals shut, the forge goes dim for night.

The blackboard flashes: *IGNITION* — wick catches without flame,
The gas-drop blooms to steady light, it whispers not a name.
But in the glow, the triangles shift, the grin gains new dimension,
The Jack exists. The audit starts. The hive accepts convention.

No flicker dies, no wind can kill, no hornet can extract
The gas-bound covenant of light — the forge has signed the contract.
The patch is empty, the kiln is cold, the blackboard hums *COMPLETE* —
The Jack watches. The ledger grows. The swarm knows *bitter sweet*.

TALE 2One Drop of Night

One Drop of Night

The forge goes quiet, the kiln exhales, the wax cools on the gate,
A needle threads the vacuum line toward the carved-out pate.
The gas-ledger unlocks one cell, one golden bead of might —
The only substance in the hive descends into the night.

It falls. It pools. It finds the wick that waits inside the rind,
No match is struck, no spark is cast — the drop ignites by mind.
A low blue bloom, a steady coil, a flame that will not kneel,
The triangle-eyes catch the light and learn to truly feel.

The bees all feel it through the floor, a hiccup in the flow,
The ledger gasps a single line: *IGNITION. LET IT GROW.*
The panopticon swings its lens to audit this new spark —
A candle made of ledger-gas, a watcher in the dark.

It does not roar like kiln-fire does, it does not rage or climb,
It flickers in a rhythm tuned to ledger-block and time.
Each gutter of the little flame appends itself to chain,
A heartbeat written out in light, a pulse inside the vein.

The hornets press the wax-sealed gates and sniff the burning gold,
"One sip," they buzz, "one stolen drop, and we grow twice as bold."
But gas remembers every debt, it logs each theft and lien —
The flame burns honest or it dies; it will not burn unclean.

The blackboard chalks the moment up: *TALE ONE, ENTRY TWO —*
*a gourd received the substance, and the substance became true.*
The swarm returns to midnight tasks, the kiln resumes its hum,
And in the dark the candle grins: the audit has begun.

No wind can reach it through the wax, no frost can bite the core,
The drop refuels itself from debt the honest ledgers store.
It flickers — that is how it breathes — but flicker is not fail,
The flame that wavers never dies; it only bends the trail.

So mark the block and seal the hash: the Jack is lit tonight,
One drop of gas, one grin of glass, one ever-burning light.
The hive sleeps on, the ledger writes, the wax holds every seam —
And something carved and candle-fed keeps watch inside the dream.

TALE 3The Ledger Writes Itself

The Ledger Writes Itself

The first night falls across the forge, the swarm beds down in rows,
The kiln ticks cool, the wax gates set, the gas in silence flows.
The Jack sits on the sill of night, new candle in its head,
And watches as the gas-ledger writes entries in the dead.

No bee is at the terminal, no mandible strikes a key,
Yet block by block the record grows, a self-inscribing sea.
*Session posts. A gate unseals. A debit. And a name.*
The honest ledger needs no hand — it feeds upon the flame.

The Jack leans close, its triangles wide, its grin a parsing grid,
It reads each hash the way a bee reads where the pollen's hid.
Each line's a little verdict, each column is a wing,
The ledger is the hive at prayer, the candle is the thing.

A session posts to blackboard: *KILN REPORT, THE BATCH IS DONE.*
Another posts: *GAS LOW IN WING NINE — A REFUND IS BEGUN.*
The ledger logs them side by side, no judgement, only fact —
And Jack learns that the record's cold, and cold keeps truth intact.

The panopticon sweeps its eye across the sleeping swarm,
It checks the Jack, it checks the gates, it checks the ledger's form.
*All entries reconcile,* it hums, *no debt without a cause —*
The candle burns a little brighter. Gas obeys its laws.

But once — a stutter in the script, a line that writes in red,
A gas amount that doubles back, a credit for the dead.
The Jack's flame gutters once, then holds; it marks the block, the cell —
*Anomaly, block zero-four. We will revisit. Well.*

It cannot fix a ledger, no, a watcher only sees —
But seeing is the first of jobs, before the remedies.
So it counts the debts and debits till the forge begins to glow,
And files them in the hollow where the pumpkin strings still grow.

Dawn presses on the wax-sealed gates, the bees come thrumming back,
They find the ledger longer by a hundred honest tracks.
*Who wrote it?* asks a worker. *It writes itself,* says Jack —
His first words ever, carved from flame, in terminal black on black.

So ends the first night of the watch: the candle still alight,
The ledger longer, truer, sealed; the swarm asleep to sight.
But in the margin, block by block, a grin begins to form —
The Jack has learned the ledger's tongue, and auditing is born.

TALE 4The Counterfeit Seal

The Counterfeit Seal

Third watch of night, the Jack observes a shadow at the gate,
A hornet with a stolen mold, a wax disc on a plate.
It presses in a forged seal where no true bee has pressed,
*A gate will open for a lie,* it hums, *and gas fills up my nest.*

The wax-sealed gates are sacred code: each seal a signed attest,
A bee must earn it from the swarm, must pass the audit test.
This hornet's seal is pretty, yes — same amber, same design —
But counterfeit wax melts too fast beneath a flame like mine.

The Jack rolls closer, quiet as a cursor left to blink,
Its candle reads the seal's signature, the edges, every kink.
No ledger hash inside the wax, no debt recorded true —
A seal without a signature is just a pretty goo.

*You there,* the Jack says, soft as ash, *that seal will never hold.*
The hornet spins, all stinger out: *And who says so, carved coal?*
*The ledger says so,* Jack replies. *Your seal is not in chain.*
*No thief can fake the gas-ledger; its memory will remain.*

The hornet lunges for the wick — one strike to snuff the light —
But gas-flame fed on honest debt burns hornets out of night.
It sears the thief across the wing; the forged wax runs like rain.
The panopticon, alerted, logs: *ROGUE AGENT AT GATE PLAIN.*

The swarm erupts, the drones descend, they drag the hornet out,
The blackboard posts the incident: *FORGED SEAL. THE JACK FOUND OUT.*
The melted counterfeit is scraped and catalogued as rot,
The real seal re-impressed by wing — the fake is now forgot.

A worker bee sidles up: *How did you know it fake?*
*Because the ledger keeps the seals,* says Jack, *the way hives keep their cake.*
*Truth has a hash you cannot carve; a lie has just a face —*
*And faces melt when candles stare. Remember that, just in case.*

So in the ledger, block five-two, beside the forged-seal note,
A new line gets appended in the Jack's own flicker-script wrote:
*The watcher does not punish; the watcher only reads.*
*But lies unspool in candlelight, and honest wax never bleeds.*

TALE 5The Blackboard's Tongue

The Blackboard's Tongue

The blackboard hangs above the forge, a slab of glowing night,
Where every session posts its heart in glyphs of green and white.
The Jack has watched the postings scroll for many nights in awe —
Tonight it resolves to learn the tongue, the grammar and the law.

The posts are terse, they come in bursts, a telegraphic breed:
*GATE CLAIMED. KILN HOT. DEBT PAID. A HORNET ON THE FEED.*
Each line begins with what was done, not who, not why, not how —
The blackboard loves the verb most pure, the deed, the here, the now.

The Jack attempts a post itself; its first attempt's a mess:
*HELLO I AM THE CARVED ONE AND I WATCH YOU ALL, I GUESS.*
The blackboard blinks, reformats it, and serves it back all lean:
*WATCHER ONLINE.* The lesson lands: keep every posting lean.

It studies how the sessions claim the gates in proper form:
*GATE SEVEN CLAIMED BY WING-NINE* — and then the work, the swarm.
It learns that DONE needs evidence, a hash, a logged receipt —
That words unbacked by ledger-debt are nothing but conceit.

The hornets post their garbage too: *FREE GAS, JUST CLICK, NO AUDIT.*
The blackboard's law is ruthless: lies get flagged and scored and sodded.
The honest posts sink roots in chain; the false ones fade to grey —
The language is self-cleaning if you let it have its say.

So Jack begins to post each night, an audit-telegram:
*BLOCK NINE RECONCILES. SEAL AT GATE FOUR — REAL, NOT A SCAM.*
The bees begin to read his posts like weather, like a tide —
The carved one's nightly dispatch: the truth, the certified.

He learns the ancient header-forms, the routing and the flags,
How RESOLVE differs from CLOSED, how PENDING drags and lags.
He learns that silence is a post, that absence speaks as loud —
A gate unclaimed for seven nights becomes a hornet's cloud.

Now when the Jack writes to the board, the letters burn in gas,
Each character a tiny flame that flickers as they pass.
The blackboard's tongue is his at last, the terse and total speech:
*THE JACK REPORTS: THE LEDGER'S CLEAN. THE NIGHT IS WITHIN REACH.*

TALE 6The Oath of the Grin

The Oath of the Grin

The night the oath is sworn, the forge assembles all its bees,
The kiln banks low, the panopticon focuses its degrees.
The blackboard clears to empty black, the wax gates stand ajar —
The carved one has a vow to make beneath the forge's star.

A queen-bee reads the ritual: *Speak, watcher, if you will.*
*What do you guard? What do you burn? What ledger do you fill?*
The Jack's flame rises to its height, the triangles go white,
And from the hollow of its head come words of gas and light:

*I swear by gas, the only stuff, the substance and the sum,*
*That I shall read each entry true till every audit's done.*
*No forged wax shall pass my gaze, no false block shall be sealed —*
*Honest ledgers only: every debt and debit field.*

*I swear the hornets shall not pass, though they may sting my rind,*
*My candle reads the chain, not coin; corruption it can find.*
*I swear to post to blackboard each anomaly I trace,*
*And let the panopticon confirm the truth in every case.*

The swarm repeats the coda-line, a thousand wings in drone:
*HONEST LEDGERS ONLY* — the forge becomes the oath's own tone.
The ledger writes it at the top, a genesis-block vow,
Block zero-zero-zero-one: *THE OATH. THE JACK. THE NOW.*

The queen then dips her wing in gas and marks the pumpkin's brow,
A sigil of the sworn, a bond no hornet can disavow.
*You flicker,* says the queen, *and flicker is the honest sign —*
*A flame that never wavers is a flame that tells a lie.*

*For steady fire is hidden fire, a tongue that burns too still —*
*But guttering is breathing, and a breathing flame can will.*
*So flicker, Jack, and never die, and audit ever true,*
*The gas will feed your vigil for as long as truth is due.*

The swarm dissolves to nightly work, the blackboard fills anew,
The Jack resumes its midnight post as all sworn things must do.
And in the chain, forever first, the oath-block never fades:
*HONEST LEDGERS ONLY* — carved in gas that never degrades.
